About our Technology Services
CEPS provides a variety of technology and related services to students, faculty, and staff. Our resources include student computer labs, electronic portfolios, classroom kiosks, and a full service instructional technology center.  Four computer labs, two for instructional use and two primarily for student use, provide ready access to support instruction. Hourly headcounts are collected to monitor the number and type of usage. The Human Environmental Sciences Building and Wantland Hall, both of which house parts of the unit, also have computer labs. As needs change, the lab availability is modified by changing open and close times. The transition to electronic student portfolios has allowed candidates to meet the portfolio requirements by uploading artifacts into a web-based system.  All classrooms have a kiosk installed that provides a computer, VCR/DVD, remote, and projection system.  Faculty can incorporate a variety of resources into instruction from both local and remote sources. This technology provides the opportunity for faculty within the unit to regularly utilize and model best practices in technology-enhanced instruction.  In addition, the college supports the Instructional Technology Center which is designed to provide a wide array of additional technologies (laptops, digital cameras, document cameras, video cameras and videotapes) focused on supporting classroom instruction.

Support is primarily provided by the College Technology Services team consisting of six full-time professional staff positions with specific areas of responsibilities.  Student computer lab assistants trained on electronic portfolios support are available during all of the open lab hours.  Electronic portfolio instruction is also provided through large and small group instruction; formal and informal individual instruction; and multiple training resources available on the college web site.  Awareness and training of the classroom resources available are provided through individual training sessions each semester with new faculty and review training is always available for existing instructors. The Instructional Technology Center is open 60 hours each week with training assistants on duty to provide immediate technology support.

Faculty members have web-based curriculum support through the university WebCT system.  Training sessions are available on an on-going basis and specialized training is available for programs interested in developing a complete on-line delivery system. CEPS and academic affairs budgets continue to include funding to ongoing upgrades to faculty computers and those available to students in labs.
